River Cast (The Tale of Lunarmorte Book 2)
Their brother was Dermot ; He died in the Lunarmorte against Lucien. Powerful fire witch and her sister, Marita is the Head of the Daylight Coven. Her brother-in-law, Vanne , who is a powerful water warlock. Marion becomes a mentor for Caia, and a solid friend. He was crazy about her, but ended it as they could never be mates. Her father and pack Alpha, Alistair MacLachlan. Caia had felt her trace when they had arrived at the Center, and found one of the purest souls she's ever encountered. The fact that Gaia would not imbue Nikolai with trace magik when the Council put him forward as the new Head led the Midnights to believe that Ethan was still alive somewhere.
In the group there is Lily and Adam , Josh and Styx , all vampires. Jaeden has been hunting with them and killing rogue vampires with them, which means she's been breaking Coven law; you did not hunt other supernatural races. In fact hindsight should be assassinated. Will I read this again in the future? New Rating - 3 stars. Samantha Young is an excellent author, who captures all the readers attention. I'm pretty sure, that in a year or two, i'll end up reading this series again. Yeah, it's that good! Lucien and Caia are so damn amazing together.
I ship them completely! First time reading this book, i didn't like that, cause i wanted as much as possible of Lucien.. Now, though, it was great reading how they saw Lucien and Caia, and that you got their story too. You even get their enemy's POV. Not much, but still, you get enough to know that something wicked is about to happen. The end of this book, i remember killed me the last time i read it, would simply make a person desperate to read the next book as soon as possible. A war coming up?! I can't wait, even though i know what will happen: Samantha is a fantastic author, and she keeps the readers well satisfied.
I give the book 4 stars: The characters keep growing on me, and i love Lucien even more at the end of the book. Samantha had me really frustrating when both Caia and Lucien refused to admit that they loved each other and that they were meant to be together, and when they finally did, hell broke lose. I simply can't wait to read book 3! Oct 09, Booknut rated it liked it Shelves: All men are idiots. There were many, many times during this book that I wanted to throttle Lucien. The supposedly 'wronged' Alpha who thinks it's fine to play Russian roulette with Caia's emotions.
Who is he to decide when she should accept their bond? Who is he to keep things from her and then get angry when she keeps things from him?! And you'd think, wouldn't you, that after all he'd put her through that Caia would stay strong and not go back to him. Which makes the fact that s Plot summary: Which makes the fact that she does accept him back a very bitter pill to swallow.
But I just wish that its main characters had more sense!! May 06, Tami rated it really liked it. So, this book was better for me than the first. Jaeden grows up a lot in her new life away from The Pack. As suspicious of him as I am, I actually like this new Reuben character. I find it strange that he's always following Jae around, but, there's something about him that I like regardless. Lucien and Caia's 'relationship' goes through some serious changes. While Caia is trying to figure out whether or not working for the Daylight Coven more specifically Marita is a good or a bad thing since Marita has been acting very strange, Lucien seems to be trying to figure out if he wants Rose or Caia.
I can't get too mad at him since even though he and Caia are 'Mated', they aren't actually together. Anyway, back to Caia and the Coven.. Marita is trying hard to get Caia to stay at the Center and leave The Pack, which is why she brings in Rose and will got to any lengths to keep her there, possibly even holding her against her will. Caia doesn't want to stay with the Center after what she discovers about Marita and what she's been doing so she has to figure out a way to leave with out being suspicious.
While Caia helps Marita and the Center fight the Midnights when they attack another Daylight pack, Caia discovers even more about herself and her powers. Finally, Caia and Lucien come to terms with their relationship and accept their Mating, all Rose issues aside. This happened a little too easily for me, but at least there was a bit of resistance on Caia's part. I like Lucien, but he's really dumb. As Alpha, he feels he can do anything he wants which I guess technically he can However, he doesn't really think about his actions and what they do to other's feelings, more specifically his mate that he's trying to win back.
But like most guys, he's an idiot. He's amazing in this book. I love how his relationship with Jaeden grows. I kind of thought they'd at least start liking each other in the first book, but it ended up going a different direction. I'm so happy for the 2 of them. Phoebe is a serious no-nonsense bad ass, and I absolutely love her.. And I love how she respects Caia. I actually give it 4. On to book 3!! Jul 06, Kathy Horsman rated it it was amazing Shelves: What made me love this book more than the first, was the expansion it made beyond The Pack, but still making it the center of the story.
It gave me a full picture of the Daylight Coven, and their whole supernatural world without cluttering it with too many stories or too many narrators. Maybe book three will finally make me like him, but I doubt it LOL. I will say that I appreciate that this book was much cleaner no sex scenes anyway. The story takes Caia and Lucien to the Center, where she can learn her magik and harness her power. It also follows Ryder on his quest to find and return Jaeden.
I really liked Ryder, at least he was a gentlemen. But, to be honest, I thought their side story was a bit unnecessary. There is just too much going on in this series. Too many characters and the POV switches too many times. I will probably read the next book, but mostly to finish the series. A little swearing less than the first book , and no sex scenes but more implications. View all 3 comments. Wow -I just keep falling in love with this series and the world that has been so beautifully drawn by Sam Young! The characters are so well described that I can see everything as it happens in my mind's eye, and it is just SO easy to care about them as they face the challenges thrown their way.
See a Problem?
I really came to love Ryder as the book progressed, and it pains me to say it but I might even prefer him to Lucien! This book twisted in ways I wasn't expecting - but I'm not going to reprise the book here Wow -I just keep falling in love with this series and the world that has been so beautifully drawn by Sam Young! Get your hands on book 1, read it quickly and then sink your teeth into book 2 ASAP!! Jul 11, Shawna LeAnn rated it it was amazing Shelves: Just so you all know, what has me speaking like a tongue tied 13 year old is this amazing second book to this series.
Samantha Young has once again put together a thrilling, fast pace, emotional journey for us. And when I say emotional, I mean it. I literally wanted to punch some people in the face. I mean come on, some people need sense knocked into them once in awhile.
Caia is still with her pack, helping out the Daylight coven with her visions of what is going on with the Midnights. But Caia is becoming more and more confused in this war. What is suppose to be all black and white, good and evil, is turning out to be a blurred line. And since Lucien has very clearly labled his feelings for Caia, she feels like she has no one left to truly trust and confide in.
Once she is called to the Daylight Covens headquarters with Lucien after a vision she had of the Midnights planning an attack on another lycan pack, she is thrown into classes and seminars and even gets her own water magik teacher if you will. This is all thanks to Marita, the leader of the Daylights. Marita will stop at nothing to keep Caia at the Centre with her, aiding in the fight against the Midnights. Yet Caia has mixed feelings about Marita and knows she can not exactly trust this woman.
During a meeting, Caia gets a first hand gaze at why she can not exactly trust Marita.source link

See, Marita introduces Rose, Lucien's old flame he had when he ran away from his pack. Caia, still having strong feelings toward Lucien [uhh duh. Deciding he can not be trusted by her, she distances herself from him at all costs. Leaving Caia to handle the war by herself, or so she wants to believe. After some incredible discoveries [really trying hard not to include any spoilers here people! Some people just can not be trusted, and with a few friends and some magik, Caia learns who she can trust, who is her enemy, and who was there for her all along.
Because that is the only word that comes to mind still. I will tell you all this, I compleatly wanted to kick Lucien in the head. Maybe then he would have stopped acting like such a MAN! This book had me turning page after page to not only seeing Caia and Luciens relationship crumble before my eyes, but to get to know the new amazingly sizziling romance between Jaeden and Ryder.
I really love how Samantha young gave us a break from Caia and Luciens narration. Because, darn it, I needed that break. I felt like I was going to break my darn nook for how angry I was at both of them. Having all those feelings and not telling one another?!

Oh, but Jae and Ryder were totally adorable. I was SO happy for Jae after everything that had happened, and the fact that she has liked Ryder all along.
And Ryder, how fast he got his feelings toward Jae. How totally taken he was with her, he had my heart melting. He is so genuine, perfect for Jae. I just thought I would put this in here so I didn't have to restructure what I already wrote, but I would just like to tell you all how much I detested Rose!

The one who use to have a thing with Lucien? Yeah, well she is horrid. I wanted Caia to take her pride and throw it out the window just once, so she could seriously hurt this Rose girl. Who shamelessly throws herself at Lucien. Okay, yeah there is more, but I hated her. Just thought you all should know. She was by far my favorite of this book.
How, even though going through a romantic dilemma that was tearing her apart, she managed to not let that get in the way of what she was meant to do. Of what she had to do for the greater good of everyone. She took that emotion she had, and instead of falling apart and not doing anything [like a lot of girls in books now a days], she helped it make her stronger.
She channeled it toward growing up, being stronger, taking control of her powers and feelings and taking everything into her own hands. It was so refreshing to see that in a female lead. Because I got plenty of her being a bad ass, and my favorite thing of all, a hot tempting heart breaking romance. The way she never faltered from what she felt, and how she was still that stronger person after everything turned out the way it did. She didn't let it soften her up. It added a whole new side to her in fact. Which is exactly what she will need in order to finish this epic fight Samantha Young has left us with.
This was a huge cliffhanger at the end. I was so mad. I wanted to throw my nook at the door, then I calmed down and realized I could buy the third and final book. Which I did immediately after I gave it five stars. Samantha Young is an incredible talented writer who knows how to keep her fans braced and ready for anything she may throw us next.
From heart pounding, nerve wracking, nail biting, awe inspiring, and heart melting scenes to utter disbelief, anger, yell inducing, laugh inducing emotions. She has you on a journey with plenty of twists and turns to keep any reader holding on tight with what the next page may throw at us.
But one thing is sure, I am totally ready for ride, because it is so worth it. Feb 27, Stacia the club rated it liked it Shelves: Book 2 takes the action and adventure up a notch. Where Moon Spell felt more like a paranormal romance, this second installment in the Lunarmorte series brought a little bit of an edgier urban fantasy vibe to the table. I found the story of the war and oncoming power shift to be a nice addition to the mix. Our female lead Caia struggled with her own beliefs and had to make hard decisions about who she was going to be, even if it meant standing up to the people who had been crucial in 3.
Our female lead Caia struggled with her own beliefs and had to make hard decisions about who she was going to be, even if it meant standing up to the people who had been crucial in shaping who she had become. It was good to see her take action and lean on her own instincts above all else. Were there still tales of love to be read? I'd have to answer with a resounding yes. I rather enjoyed the two separate romances in this book. One couple was powerful, stubborn, and explosive. The other pair was patient, kind, and sensitive to one another.
I appreciated the contrast in relationships, since not all relationships come about in the same manner. Lucien and Caia encountered a few stumbling blocks on their road to happiness. Misunderstandings and hurt feelings held them back from giving in to what their hearts wanted.
