When I bought this book I was a little skeptical, but you know what - it is an easy read and a pretty good one. In particular the application of a highly structured environment like the military to the business world has application. This book breaks down many of those concepts into simple observations and develops frameworks for application. Refreshing, easy to read, straightforward. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. This book is very applicable to anyone in business.
Fighter pilots are perhaps the most successful operatives in their "business" of combat and the author brings the perspective of a fighter pilot in business applications. A must read for anyone looking to improve their skill sets in life, and in the working sector. Great book presented in away that helped my employees understand how there jobs related to other people in the company. Many business books are long on theory, but short on providing any insight about actually executing.
And face it, theories come and go, but getting things done is never out of style. James Murphy has written a book about getting things done. His style is informal and accessible And he remains focused on his message: Getting into this book requires the reader to accept that the skills taught to fighter pilots apply to business. The amazing thing is that they actually do.

As a former Air Force Weapons Crew Chief and a 25 year businessman, I thought Business Is Combat was not only an informative and exciting read but one that is absolutely accurate in its analogies, lessons and promise of success. The fighter jock is cool, calm and collected not just because he is who he is but because he is confident in his abilitiy to do what he does. This can only come from preparation, repetition and more repetition.http://phon-er.com/js/yahoo/dimensions-of-sony-xperia-z1-compact.php
Business Is Combat - James D. Murphy - E-book
As Jim Murphy points alludes, to loose focus for an instant can be the difference between returning home safely or trying out the handle on the ejection seat. The stakes are just as important in business perhaps more so since a leader is also responsible for the people under his charge. Attention to detail and flawless execution has no substitute. I believe this book is a great read and a reference for winning teams. See all 12 reviews. Most recent customer reviews.

After having seen the execution and de-brief portions presented at an Afterburner seminar at work, I was curious to know about the other concepts: It's delivered with similar energy and clarity. He makes valuable points and shares the types of interesting stories you'd expect along the way. I've used the rankless de-brief successfully with project groups and recommend trying this method.
