I started this series with a Kindle daily deal, and am now going through it in order. However, I think each would stand alone as well. Having read so many mysteries over the years, I'm finding some that I skim or skip entire pages. I'm reading every word of La Plante! One of my favorite authors but not my favorite book. The story is good and keeps you interested.
The police and investigation system in England sounds different than in the US and their homicide teams don't seem to have a lot of camaraderie. The ending was a surprise and not a happy one. Still, I'd probaby read another one of the series just to see if the main character ever gets any professional help!

There were a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing. I liked this book but to be honest whilst I respect Anna's character for her intellect I don't like her much as a person. But I will continue to follow this series. I have read all her books and they are alway intertaining. They always keep you interested and are hard to put down. It's great to be able to depend on Lynda LaPlante to produce another excellent mystery novel.
