In Your Dreams (The Afterlife Series Book 2)
Bounty hunter Sean Martino is a man that lives in the afterlife and his job is to invade the dreams and help people that have attempted suicide and continue to have suicidal ideations. And when he struts into Isabella's dream to talk her down off the proverbial edge he is instantly drawn to her. They have a very strong connection that makes Sean try a little harder to keep this woman amongst the living.
See a Problem?
But Isabella doesn't give a damn, her plans will not be deterred and Sean realizes this woman is going to be a hard one to save. He is used to having a bit of a hard time getting through to suicidal people, and helping them understand their worth. However with Isabella he has his damn hands full. She not only wants to commit suicide, she is damned determined as hell to do it. So when Sean's rule bending and breaking ways catch up to him, it couldn't happen at a worse time. But before he is cut off from her and her dreams completely he does leave her with something that will force Isabella to make one of the hardest decisions she's ever made in her life.

Shit that book freaking rocked! With so many things in play and twists at every turn I honestly had no idea where Gina Ardito was leading me, so I just sat back and held on for dear life on this crazy ass roller coaster ride! The entire time I wanted Sean and Isabella to be together so badly, but the chances of that happening were slim to none and I really didn't want to get my hopes up to high for that.
Gina did an excellent job using her fantastic ability to weave a compelling story where the odds remain stacked against characters that are complicated, complex, and intriguing. I absolutely loved Sean and Isabella's story. And Gina Ardito you have captured yourself a lifetime fan! In Your Dreams easily gets 5-Damn I forgot how kick ass paranormal can be! This isn't something I would normally read, but Im glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. You know the saying what comes around goes around. Do you believe in Karmic Justice?
Do you believe in righting wrongs? You will after you read this book. Gina really knows how to weave a story and the whole time IM trying to take all this in Im thinking there is no way she will be able to wrap all this up. OMG did sh Wow.. OMG did she wrap it up with a boom.
Sean has been stuck in the Afterlife ever since he killed himself. Destined to help other people from the same fate he decided on himself. His first offender is Isabella Fichetti who most people thought had a silver spoon in her mouth but in reality suffered more in a lifetime than most people. Shes strong willed and smart mouthed and I just loved how in times of despair she was always cracking a joke.
The writing of this story is really amazing. It flowed and was such a smooth read but not only do you get to have a great story of redemption and love you get so much more with all the other characters. Gina makes you love and hate everyone in the book all at the same time. I really enjoyed this book. It makes you look at the bigger picture. It makes you think about being in a world filled with Misery and trying to come out on top.
Its about being Faithful until death or into death or beyond death. Thanks for taking me on this journey it touched me,made me cry, made me laugh and made me think about everything always circling back around.. After the loss of his friends Jodie and Luc in book one, Sean is left angry, and with no one to trust, especially the Elders.
Forced to change jobs from Bounty Hunter to Probation, Sean has to try to save Isabelle from herself and her determination to die by her own hand. No job, no husband, nothing to look forward to. I felt towards the middle it began to drag and lose its edge. Still, it was interesting to see how Gina managed to weave the lives of all these characters together in what was a very complicated and inventive way. Some of the connections I was able to guess but others I did not see coming, the conclusion especially was totally unexpected and I liked the fact that it surprised me.
Copy supplied for review Sep 28, Nicole rated it liked it. The idea of the afterlife that was presented was actually pretty interesting and gave way to a new whole idea pf life after death. That said, I enjoyed the reasons that led people to this domain and the different jobs that were presented or given a glimpse of. I think what really seemed weird is how the story just lightly touched every problem or situation and gave it a prompt solution with mere dialogue and short-lived anger.
I could understand it because of the time that souls stay in this pla The idea of the afterlife that was presented was actually pretty interesting and gave way to a new whole idea pf life after death. I could understand it because of the time that souls stay in this place, but everything was just too easily agreed upon and solved. Apart from that, there's basically no build-up regarding Sean and Isabelle's relationship, they are enjoying each other company at first, and promptly they are deeply in love.
Though I liked this development, the transition was made too hastily and I couldn't help but question it. Main characters are quite simple in description, there's not really a great amount of depth to them, except from the main theme which is touched upon between them and the reason Sean is trying to support her. I was glad for the turn Isabelle's personality took, but the hasty change of it felt a little weird. Side characters, Tony and Justin were both and incredible source of support for Isabelle and I couldn't help but root for their happiness.
The ending was really cute and lovely. I think it was a perfect conclusion to the story but I would have liked to have at least a little epilogue, though it was certainly not necessary. With the second book in her Afterlife series, Ms. Ardito takes readers into unusual territory. Nov 12, Melissa rated it really liked it Shelves: I love this series. The second book does not disappoint! I won this book through Goodreads First Reads. Dec 10, Victoria rated it it was amazing.

I still don't know. I mean really, I don't care whether she washes her hair or not, what she's wearing or how long it takes her to pick out her outfit that is then described as dull, how often she uses the bathroom, what she eats etc etc etc. There are just so many really long dull descriptive passages in this book and some bad spelling and grammatical errors.

Had this been a real book rather than on my Kindle I think I might have ceremoniously burnt it, or at least thrown it very hard at the wall. It was the same unhealthy relationship with two people who talk talk talk but can't seem to understand each other and so little real action that when it does come your brain is too fried to actually care.
I still have two more of this series on my Kindle but I have no idea whether I will actually read them. Another fantastically written book from Stephanie Hudson thank God book 3 is out what a cliffhanger. Keira and Dominic argue more than anything else, It really did nag on me quite a bit by the end over stupid things, plus its always saying how pure she is, i get that she has been through alot but she acts like any decent human nothing more nothing less. Still i do love this series the authors wring is exactly what i love, and i'm sure i will be reading book 3 until the late hours of tonight just a few things above that made it not as great as book 1.
Feb 08, Luana rated it it was ok Shelves: Why did I do this to myself? But no, nope, absolutely not. If you though that Kiera was stupid on the first book please do not read any further, this is so much worse. All she does is cry and be scared of everything, even Draven. Kiera does not evolve at all, her character does not grow out of this self pity that Why did I do this to myself? Kiera does not evolve at all, her character does not grow out of this self pity that she always falls into. Oh, and everyone has the hots for Kiera. I can count 5 so far. This drives me absolutely insane.
The Author still keeps us in the dark for as to why Kiera, and many many things is left unexplained. I have also at this point given up on Draven as he is too overprotective and come off as a father figure sometimes because he is constantly coddling Kiera, and this is a big no no. The Author is amazing with the visual details of the world around these characters, but the story lacks a a lot.
The Author fills the page with pointless things that don't add anything to the story itself. I did not finish this book because when Kiera started to sob and cry for the millionth time, I could not go on. And a warning to the ones that are thinking about the audio book. The narrator is nasally and makes Kiera and Draven sound like kids. Aug 27, Summer rated it did not like it Shelves: I tried with this book.
I really did, but it is filled with so much crap I couldn't take it anymore. I cannot stand how weak Keira is, how she is constantly crying and falling apart. She is beyond annoying.
And sex is completely over played, I feel like it was mostly used as a filler to fill in the gaps. This book consists mostly of really long, descriptive passages, then sex, maybe some action, then some more really long, descriptive passages. I don't even have enough left in me to proper OMFG. I don't even have enough left in me to properly rant about how poorly written this book truly was. If you were questioning the first book, just skip this one, NOT worth it. The ending has me thinking I know who it is and after reading the 1st chapter of book 3 I'm quite sure but probably wrong!! Sneaky people work in the VIP! Crikey, I wish Draven was my boyfriend, there would be no running away from him! Sep 18, Teresa Barbour rated it did not like it. No, no, not again!! I wrote a scathing review of the first book in this series, why I thought that this one would be better is beyond me. I know that I did want to know what happened next. However, pulling someone in with plot twists is very different from torturing them with blatantly bad writing.
This writer would do better to go back to a remedial writing course and learn more about English as a language before abusing any more readers. This writing was so bad that I frequently questioned whet No, no, not again!! This writing was so bad that I frequently questioned whether or not English was the writer's first language. Regardless of the inept use of English, I still like many of the characters, and most of the plot points, when they do not run off the rails.
If, in fact, Ms. Hudson put as much effort into her writing as she does her storyline, this series could be actually successful. Jan 22, Justine rated it it was amazing. This book got me into trouble with my husband as I could not put it down and found myself going to the bathroom more often than I normally do just to get another page in.
This is the follow up from the first which I truly loved as it was the beginning of how Keira meets The Dravens, but this one really had me hooked and unlike a fish which wants to return to the water, I wanted to stay on this line which belongs to Dominic Draven. An amazing epic erotic love story with demons and angels and vamp This book got me into trouble with my husband as I could not put it down and found myself going to the bathroom more often than I normally do just to get another page in. An amazing epic erotic love story with demons and angels and vampires all rolled into one, action packed and a must read.
Nov 06, Sarah rated it it was amazing Shelves: I love seeing the characters develop and interact as Keira becomes more immersed in the supernatural world. My favorite part of this is that while rereading, you notice parallels that came from later in the story being set up. The author has obviously done her homework and has an overarching storyline.
This book is a bit like a slow-cooker- the action and suspense build throughout the book, and at the end, you have a great story with a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more. Jul 14, Annette Olsen rated it it was ok Shelves: The premise of this series is fun but my one complaint has been that she could write her books with a few hundred less pages and they would probably be better. After reading this second book I a thinking that this 7 book series could probably be well done in 4 or 5 books. There was almost nothing in this book that advanced the overall plot and there was almost no character development at all.

Sep 12, Sharon rated it liked it. First let me say this was not as good as book 1. I loved book 1 this one not so much. I truly believed she cried through majority of the book, and I couldn't stand it. With the length of this book I expected more, did we have to spend that much time talking about her monthly friend?!? I don't think so. Oct 29, Tessa rated it liked it. Half was exciting, the other half was a little slow.

Don't get me wrong her love story is awesome but you find yourself wondering if you would want that yourself So Dom our Dark Knight what a troubled man! Vincent I'm just saying I don't really like it trust him. I'm hoping I'm wrong what I think happens in the next book or at least hoping it I'm correct it's not his fault just because it would leave more pain and devastating effects in it wake. Lucien I might have spelled crazies name wrong if so I blame on lack of sleep! What a creep but with such a depressing back story of you don't think of what he is doing now you could almost feel sorry for him.
Sophia I have to say she is one of the more likable characters but my mind is always looking for traitors and she could be a huge power player here but that might ruin some this for me. Well let me get the point these book talk about a girl that sees things she should be able to and deals with being kidnapped and being selfless in the face most everything and it's not her weakness as much as it's her inner strength. She finally find the man she should be with but even this is completely complicated to say the least.
She move with her sister to get a greasy start but her past only follows her and make life hard but it builds bonds. The new people in her life now all see her as more then she can wrap her broken mind around. Now she is hunted and someone close had helped capture her for her another enemy.
I'm waiting for the next book!!!! Nov 25, Flor rated it did not like it.
I just have to say that I really struggled to finish this book. From my point of view the story is too long, too slow and repetitive. Every chapter is the same as the previous one but told with different words and not always. Also, I don't know about other people, but the lines in different languages is purely annoying.
However, a I just have to say that I really struggled to finish this book. However, am I sorry to say, it makes no sense and it's absurd. I would have understood it if the language change was attributed to demon types or the ethnicity of the humans they were possessing. But no, view spoiler [ it was just an old habit of the older demons view spoiler [.
The characters are so undeveloped it's just sad.
In Your Dreams
Keira is constantly feeling inferior and doubting Dominic's feelings for her. Keira's friends barely make an appearance in this book and when they do, it's so brief you don't even have time to notice them. Dominic is just a big child having a tantrum when things don't go his way, he's too possessive and controlling and his actions are very predictable. Don't get me wrong, I like possessive guys in books, but he is not making me buy it.
The relationship between Keira and Dominic is just toxic. They intentionally hurt each other and then make an excuse for their behavior, move on like nothing happened and then start all over again. And over the same issues. There is no balance. He had so much potential, but the author had to make him just another one of the many, with no real purpose but to look good and have Keira droll over him This was just a disappointment for me. Jun 05, Jessica rated it it was ok Shelves: Book one was very interesting, and I really wanted to know where the story would go, however this book was extremely long and repetitive, the first half was a cycle of arguments followed by sex.

I felt most of Dominics' behaviour was unacceptable - ranging from childish to possessive and overly aggressive. That Kiera would take the blame herself for causing all the pro Book one was very interesting, and I really wanted to know where the story would go, however this book was extremely long and repetitive, the first half was a cycle of arguments followed by sex. That Kiera would take the blame herself for causing all the problems is totally wrong, in terms of being a strong female heroine she crumbled pathetically.
As for the overall plot; somethings were left unexplained in key areas - Kieras' entry into the temple and mark on her wrist were never discussed by Draven, Kiera never questioning her 'Electus' title and she also never revealed her encounters with Lucius to Draven, this just didn't sit with their characters. All in all I will continue to read the saga, as I like the plot concept and some of the secondary characters. However I hope the author will include less fillers, typos and seriously try to streamline the next book.

While it may be setting up Keira for more things to come and more chances to show strength, right now I mean, sure, she is still getting used to this supernatural world into which she was propelled.
