His writing style will make you earn for that best part of the year when it is socially sanctioned to be visiting horror and macabre attractions. But for some of us, this is what we do all year round and usually you know of and follow J. I already read his New England Grimpendium, but I didn't learn much new information because I live there and have explored most of his suggested sites. Now the New York Grimpendium is a bit different.
I go to NY a couple times a J. However, there was a ton of new stuff for me that has me wanting to jump in my car with a witch's hat on as we speak. I also am convinced that NY has better graveyards than New England which is hard to beat. My personal favorites in this book were the reclusive Collyer brothers story, George Eastman's of Kodak fame suicide note, the boy that died from kisses grave, grave of an amiable child, all the NYC area graveyards, the amityville horror house changing the windows, and ghostbusters ruling house.
I love his humor, his Ray Bradbury style of writing, that he doesn't get fooled by fake stories although they are still good stories , and that it realizes how ridiculous some of the places are but still has fun finding them. The only thing I don't like is that dumb "Grimpendium" title.
